Game Knight Continues with Final Fantasy VII, Episode 2!

https://youtu.be/KnJV03Z6xbs

PHEW! Been a couple months since the last one! Been working on a few things in the meanwhile, so, update time!

I've got some more Writing in Geek and Flick Flap episodes in the writing stage.

There are four more Game Knight: FFVII episodes to come before I have to film more (as well as finish scripting the rest of that series.).

State of the Union with ATM and Rantin' & Raven are awaiting ideas.

RKI Radio Theatre will be up next with the next set of four episodes. (Because it's been a while, and they're quick edits.)

And finally, RKI's Twitch... I did some testing with it and it seems my computer is just plain not strong enough to render ANY games in real time. Both the Computer games, AND console games turned out choppy as hell. Which sucks, because I had hoped to use it to boost the Game Knight output! (And get a few more eyes on the Youtube channel.) So, maybe in the future when I can get a new computer, but don't expect that for a while as I'm not even surviving on the Channel's Monetization. (So, please do Share, Like, Subscribe and so forth so I can get this puppy to grow!)

Stay tuned for more goodness!

RKI Gets Political with its New Series!

Another day, another new series from RKI! Check out the first episode of "State of the Union with ATM"!

https://youtu.be/oKfjR7YbjC4

I originally had another idea to do with ATM, that you'll be seeing in the future (And may or may not be referenced in the episode...) but the state of politics in America made me decide to make a statement, try and DO something rather than complaining on facebook or whatnot. I can't do politics, but I CAN be a smartass in videos and hopefully make people think, and maybe, someday THOSE people will be the ones to change and fix things. Until then, we've got a supervillain president! Woo! I will be continuing this in the future, but fear not, the other geeky RKI series will continue. (My loyal 0 viewers!)

Oh, and if you're curious, yes, the other ATM series will debut at some point. See?

I've just got to figure out a way to do it right. (I wrote one episode that I couldn't turn around fast enough, which will be the problem with this one.) It'll just take the right muse to strike me.

RKI on Twitch!

https://www.twitch.tv/ravensknightindustries

That's right, RKI is now on Twitch! Don't expect too much there yet, though. Currently I'm testing to see what works and what doesn't. (Games on my computer look terrible if 3D but 2D looks fine.) I may or may not turn on the mic at some point, but I don't have a webcam so no face cam. And don't expect anything too crazy as I just thought it'd be fun to stream the games I'm playing in my down time. (And maybe spread the YouTube channel a bit!) So stop by and relax with RKI!

Rantin' & Raven returns with a ramble about SCP!

https://youtu.be/m-B-GZEE0Mg

Enjoy the little Halloween treat!

In other RKI News! Currently, the second Flick Flap review is almost written. I'm debating on editing another FF VII episode, or some RKI Radio Theatre episodes, or just fully focus on the Flick Flap review.

RKI launches new Movie Review series, Flick Flap!

https://youtu.be/yKp-iklfgdg

Enjoy RKI's review of the 1992 BBC Halloween special, Ghostwatch!

PHEW! That took WAY longer than I intended to work out. (Not the least of my problems being a BBC copyright flag that forced me to redo the entire episode.) But hey, at least I've FINALLY got a movie review series to add to the RKI lineup!

A new Rantin' & Raven!

https://youtu.be/nyjeJ2CCxDc

Bringing up the subject of Piracy! A timely episode considering RKI's recent issues! (Though filmed a couple months back.)

A new Quiet, Please!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-R9auNqpwP4

It's another poor quality one, but still a fantastic little tale!

Nightfall is go!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JrobRGD7vo

The copyright flag on the latest episode of Nightfall has been released, so, enjoy! It's one of my personal favorites! (And kudos to [Merlin] IDLA Distribution for just releasing it and not giving me more hassle with this.)

A new Trip with The Mysterious Traveler on RKI Radio Theatre!

https://youtu.be/EvExcK7EVSQ

Enjoy a new (old) episode of the 100% public domain radio show, The Mysterious Traveler! (And no, the dispute on the previous episode has not been cleared up yet.)

RKI's Very First Copyright Troll!

So, as promised, I uploaded a second episode of Nightfall. THIS one was flagged too. However, what was flagged was the Nightfall theme at the beginning. It matched another video because this entity is claiming ANOTHER episode of Nightfall (Without branding it AS Nightfall) and naturally, the theme song matched. Now, the previous episode, I did not dispute because it was radio music that exists is a muddy grey area, but this? Nightfall is a public Domain Radio Program.

This entity is [Merlin] IDLA Distribution which... interestingly enough, you can find are known Copyright Tolls, having claimed NASA recorded audio as their own in the past.

I've disputed the claim, but I imagine this will not be the end as Youtube STILL leaves the power in the hand of the claimants, with NO consequences for this nonsense. #WTFU indeed. Come on Youtube, it's time to stop this crap.

Of course, it's ridiculous to copyright troll me as I have few views or subscribers, but still, they cannot have my pennies!

RKI Radio Theatre: Nightfall Delayed

Well! I tried to upload a new Nightfall today, only to have it get THREE copyright claims on it. (I forgot this episode features the main character listening to the radio with, ya know, ACTUAL music on it.) So, the episode "Welcome to Homerville" will sadly have to be skipped over. (I could edit the music out, but that would not preserve the audio in its original state, something very important to me.) Instead, I'll edit and upload the next Nightfall episode.

RKI Launches on Patreon!

As stated previously, RKI is now officially on Patreon!

https://www.patreon.com/RavensKnightIndustries

Feel free to check it out and even kick in a few bucks if you like the content the channel produces!

I had a bit of trouble with the rewards, so it's naturally gonna be an ever evolving thing. (But I also had a blast going a little crazy with a few of them too...) In fact, several of them launched without any real idea other than the dollar amount, so feel free to tell me what rewards you want to see up there! I'm also planning a welcome/summary video for the main channel page, as well as this patreon page, so if you've got ideas for moments you think should be highlighted, let me know somewhere!

In other news, I've been working on advertising for the last week or so, thus why no new videos have posted. But, with that out of the way, editing and writing can resume. I've also got a few other goodies to share with you later, but in the meantime, keep on checking the facebook page and this here blog for more updates!

Game Knight: Final Fantasy VII Episdoe 1 Arrives!

https://youtu.be/G-es0IOia88

PHEW! Feels like I've been teasing this one forever! (As you will see from the utter mess of continuity issues!) But it's finally here! Only six episodes are ready for editing so prepare for long breaks between as I need to finish a couple of the scripts and film the remaining episodes. (Right now, it looks to be roughly 36 episodes.) But I will be producing other videos in the meantime,

Anyway, enjoy! RKI is back, baby!

Saturday, September 3, 2016

RKI's New Info

For all the people actually paying attention, I've almost got the new studio setup. So, new videos will be under production soon! (Also, old videos that are still in the editing phase!) So, expect a bit of a transition phase as new videos overlap old ones for a bit.

In other news, I've setup an official PO Box for those of you who wish to write out physical hate mail letters!

P.O.Box 1479
Poway, California 92074

So, go ahead and drop me a line!

The last bit of news is: I'm considering setting up a Patreon account, but the main sticking point has been what bonus to give supporters. I'm not a fan of the "get the new episodes early!" one as... I'm not gonna hold new episodes hostage to get people to pay a ransom. Episodes will be posted as they are completed. I want you guys to see 'em asap! So, if you've got any ideas on cool bonuses you'd like to see, go ahead and let me know.

Raven's Knight Industries Hiatus

Long time no update, eh? Well, the reason is that RKI has relocated from Florida to California! As such, there is no studio or computer set up to produce more content at the moment. So, have patience, as at the first chance new content will begin to roll in! RKI hasn't died, just taking a hiatus and hopefully, will be bringing you lots of new content when we return proper! Stay tuned!

Writing in Geek Fixes Ghostbusters 2016!

https://youtu.be/N5sHchTk3_E

Oy! Sorry for being late as the rendering alone took three days! ARGH! Still valid, so enjoy a little breakdown of both the old and New Ghostbusters prior to release! (What? I said it was a little late!) I also admit the episode is incomplete as I decided to get the episode up without worrying about potential DMCA claims on footage and music. So I need you guy's help to grow so I don't have to fear being a small channel! Until then, enjoy the episode!

Ranin' & Raven raves on Youtube!

https://youtu.be/pYOenvUgEMA

As promised, the Raven portion has arrived! This time focused on the reasons for joining Youtube! As well as a small showcase of youtube channels that have inspired this channel.

In other news, the next Writing in Geek is in the can! Next comes editing!

After that, there may be more RKI Radio Theatre or Game Knight! Though, there may be a haiatus as RKI will be relocating in the next two months! So be aware a delay will be incoming. (There are six episodes of Game Knight filmed, but no more will be until the next studio can be setup.)

Writing in Geek - DOOM II is here!

https://youtu.be/FuMTBNpNPwE

The Second Writing in Geek has arrived!

Holy shit, that took WAY longer than it should have! But, I'm still trying to develop a different style for Writing in Geek. I'm digging it more than the last one, though it's not perfect yet!

On to the next video!

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

The DOOM (2016) Review has arrived!

https://youtu.be/ZYJqerPqHkU
PHEW! That took a chunk of time, didn't it? But hopefully, you guys enjoy it!

Next up, a pair of Writing in Geek episodes, possibly some Rantin' & Ravens and then of course, back to work on Game Knight proper!

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

RKI Radio Theatre returns with a new episode of Dimension X!

https://youtu.be/tBsHHDmW-hU
The DOOM (2016) review is taking some time in the editing, so, I figured I'd toss up some new RKI Radio Theatre episodes in the meantime!

Oh, and the videos will no longer be posted directly here, because I believe there's some issue with views/youtube algorithm thing with shared videos. I may have been shooting myself in the foot here the whole time! So, kindly do click through!

DOOM (2016) part 10 on Game Knight JUST PLAY!

Cyberdemon! DOOM (2016) part 9! Game Knight JUST PLAY!

Only four episodes left after this, plus a review! (And, potentially a DOOM II wishlist...)

Then I've got a bunch more content coming. Including an absolutely MASSIVE Writing in Geek episode that started as a simple idea that ballooned into a huge undertaking as controversy swirled around the issue... That's right, I'm slogging into the heated debate over the new Ghostbusters movie! For comparison sake, my Dr. Doom episode was 4000 words. The Ghostbusters 2016 episode is sitting at 12,000+ words! Hoo boy... What the hell is wrong with me...

Look Forward to it!

Game Knight JUST PLAY! part 6 of DOOM (2016)!

Good LORD this ended up a long ass episode. An hour and a half! But I think this is the longest. The next is shorter, but I'm not sure about the rest yet. We're halfway through the game and the review segment will begin filming soon!

DOOM (2016) part 5 on Game Knight JUST PLAY!

Hoo BOY these videos are getting long! The next one is gonna be the longest yet... I admit I had some trouble with the Challenges. The worst being the next one... But hey! That's the nature of mostly unedited gameplay!

DOOM (2016) continues with episode 3 of Game Knight JUST PLAY!

I actually enjoy the purity of this style. It's not going to replace the normal Game Knight series, but there's something fun about being SEEN playing the game without trying to ENTERTAIN along with it.

Oh... and by the way? The final Episode of the series is going to include an in depth review of the game! Should nicely set it apart from its sister series. I like the idea of seeing me play the game, seeing almost the same experience as me, then seeing my review of the thing, something few if any other reviewers do. (No snippets and wondering what the hell I'm talking about with misleading statements here!) So, likely it will continue in the future, I don't know with what games just yet, but we'll see!

Video Delay

Unfortunately, I had a bit of internet issues for the last week, but things are all straight and video uploads will resume shortly! The better news? It comes with an internet upgrade! So I'll be able to upload videos in half the time! Doom will resume by tomorrow and I SHOULD be able to knock out all 13 episodes over the next two weeks!

Monday, May 16, 2016

New Game Knight JUST PLAY! DOOM 2016!

With the new Doom remake releasing this past Friday, I figured I'd do a little something different. Game Knight JUST PLAY! is just that, playing a game without all the commentary. This naturally hasn't preempted the next true Game Knight as this is its own thing. That is still on the way. (It's currently in a state of Writing/Filming/Editing, so look out for it soon!) In the meantime, DOOM!

Surprise! New Series!

Writing in Geek!

Okay, last new series for a while. I had the idea, so, I went and did it. Thus why no updates, or new RKI Radio Theatres. I'd like to differentiate it from the others somehow, so, later episodes might be retooled, but for now, think of it like a spin off of Rantin' & Raven. (Only fair, since Rantin' & Raven is a spin off from the Writing in Geek Blog!)

I just had this thought about Dr. Doom, and I haven't posted on the blog in a while. So, since I've got the youtube thing going, I thought "Hey! Let's just toss up a new series!"

Monday, April 25, 2016

New R&R as well as the premier of Collecting Game!

And, as announced in said video (and on here forever and a half ago!), Collecting Game!

It feels so good for an idea to finally come to fruition!

There will, of course, not be an accompanying Collecting Game video for FFVII. You'll have to wait for the next series after. (What, you don't think I have these all planned out?) Every other series, so the game after this upcoming one, you can eagerly anticipate the Collecting Game video to return. Until then, I hope it helps you find a copy that you're looking for!

Quiet, Please arrives on RKI Radio Theatre!

Easily one of the best series that old time radio dramas have to offer. And the last of the four initial offerings from RKI Radio Theatre! Be sure to stick around for more of your favorite, and feel free to check out the other three shows in the meantime! (As well as RKI's other offerings!) The second set of radio shows will premier after the conclusion of these.

Saturday, April 23, 2016

The Mysterious Traveler joins the RKI Radio Theatre rotation! Plus an RKI Channel Update!

Sci-fi, Horror and now Mystery! What Genre will come next? (Will it be a show that is impossible to quantify? I think it might!)

And if you were curious, yes, another Rantin' & Raven will follow the fourth series premier on RKI Radio Theatre. With some more gaming goodness to follow! As for Game Knight... I'm currently hard at work on the scripts, with seven episodes done so far. (of an as yet unknown amount, as I'm having to cut episodes in half due to length.) I may begin filming them shortly to catch up while I continue writing the rest of the series.

Anyway, hope you're enjoying RKI Radio Theatre, and that you're looking forward to FFVII as much as I am!

Introducing Rantin' & Raven!

Premiering the new opinion show over on the RKI Channel! Just a quick intro to the whole thing before we get into better topics. (But then, you dear readers of the blog already know about it!)

Youtube FFVII Update

Hoooo boy! Seems to be taking forever, doesn't it? But I figured it's about time for another update.

For the record, no, the previous sneak peak was not an April Fools joke. Game Knight Series 2 will be none other than Final Fantasy VII! That should give you some idea of what's taking so long. There were a few setbacks, but things are progressing. In the next week, Gameplay filming will be complete. I've got a few more things to collect, Two weapons to kill and a Final Boss to take down. But to give you some idea... Chocobo Breeding alone... was an entire session... I spent my night breeding Chocobos. Six Hours Of Breeding, Racing and Resetting. Six. Hours. Don't worry, there's a TON of editing to come so you wont be sitting through it all. I suffer so you don't have to!

I'm still trying to decide the length of the episodes and how much to cut down. I want to represent the game as much as possible, while cutting it down so that you folks aren't sitting through hours of wandering and random battles. Currently, the set up I had in mind wont work as that would end up being 18+ episodes of 2+ hours a piece. That just wont fly. So, these will be heavily edited down. Though the episodes will likely be longer than the first series. I've already recorded about 40+ hours of footage, compared to Mega Man X which can be beaten in under 2 hours. (This is one of the setbacks as I have to keep clearing my camera's card off.)

After Recording is complete, I'll work more heavily on the scripts. Of which, I'm expecting controversy. Because, as one knows, FFVII must be 100% exact as presented originally, with any change a heresy. So, I'm looking forward to the reaction! Can one gain negative viewers? We'll see!

I am considering beginning to post the other series in the meanwhile. I had wanted to wait till I had them all together, but obviously, it's taking longer than expected. I'll probably finish Gameplay filming, then start posting Rantin & Raven, Collecting Game, and RKI Radio Theatre as I work on the scripts and film them.

So stick around!

RKI Channel Progress Update

Just thought I'd drop by and leave a little progress update since it's been about two weeks now since the last video.

I'm working on everything at once. But it will be a little bit longer unfortunately.

I've filmed the RKI Radio Theatre episodes and am QUITE pleased with these early efforts, it's something I see lots of potential with in the future to have fun with. I filmed about 52 episodes worth in one night so they'll be GREAT output boosters. I've just got to edit the footage down into the individual episodes, which still takes a bit of time. Mostly because I'm still shaping the series as I'm doing so. The next batch will go a bit faster because I won't have to make intros and outros and the like. I'm REALLY looking forward to posting these.

Collecting Game is in the can, and just requires editing. I need to get some quick gameplay footage to add but mostly it'll take some editing.

I've also filmed 7 episodes of Rantin & Raven. Unfortunately, this is what's slowing me down. As I was editing the episodes today, I realized... They're just TERRIBLE. Once again I'm reminded that speaking is not my forte. The footage is just chock full of pauses (not a terrible problem) and overused words. (a HUGE problem) The introduction episode turned out well enough, but I just was not happy with the following episode. I didn't do justice to the topic. At all. I'm a writer for a reason, it's how my mind focuses and works best. So, because I want to produce the best material possible for you, I'm jettisoning the original unscripted approach and moving over to a scripted series. (This is not abnormal for me, as stated in the episodes, I played Mega Man X 8 times trying to figure out a way to approach the whole thing.) This will delay things a bit, but will result in something FAR more watchable in the end. I'll begin working on scripts after posting this. These will still be produced quicker than Game Knight episodes but it's frustrating to be slowed down. But again, such is the nature of forming a new idea. You gotta do things wrong before you can do them right.

Game Knight will begin filming soon. No other updates there. The main problem is I must work on these at night to reduce environmental sound. Everything else I can work on in the daytime.

Speaking of sound... guys... really... The terrible sound in the Game Knight episodes? Yeah, gone. I can't tell you how happy I am with the new sound. Huzzah for knowing your equipment better! So, another part I'm excited to share.

So, I've got a ton of cool stuff coming. I just want to get a good backlog before I begin posting them again so we don't have these long hiatuses in the future. I'm trying to get a rhythm going where I have stuff to post WHILE working on the behind the scenes stuff. But that of course means working on a ton right now and holding onto it for a bit.

But rest assured, when the RKI Channel returns, it'll be bigger and better than ever!

Game Knight: Mega Man X - Episode 8, THE FINALE! Plus Bonus!

Here it is, the overly long conclusion of Mega Man X!

With that done, here's a small bonus, a scripted episode I didn't even film! (Because who wants to watch me ramble about the intro for a whole episode?) If you were curious as to compare what an episode "script" looks like prior to filming.

Prologue

“Though they go to great pains to indicate the year is 21XX, the little computer prologue tells us that it is no earlier than 2114, per the Copyright date on Dr. Cain’s Computer.”
“Also: NOM comporation?”
“NOM NOM NOM.”
“That is a SHIT TON of memory. I’m guessing Dr. Cain likes Illegally downloading High Def Movies.”
“Who wants to bet Dr. Cain’s passcode is ‘CAPCOM’?”
“Woah! Hang on! ‘Broad-range Eye Camera’? …Aaaand it points to the gem thing? Soooo… X is a cyclops? …And the eyes are just like… painted on…? *Nervous look*”
“HAYATOM Inc. Was originally MOKUDO Inc. In the Japanese version.”
“HAYATOM could be a refrence to the given name, Hayato, which has origins as a regional people and Samurai title, literally meaning ‘Falcon-Men’. MORE likely however, is that this is a coincidence and whoever translated it was all like ‘Let’s come up with some nonsense word that sounds vaguely electronic, like Hitachi or whatever.’ ‘Got it! Like in kung fu! HAI-YAH! Toss an OM on there and we’re good.’ ‘Brilliant!’”
“Mokuoo on the other hand… I’m having trouble pinning down… It COULD reference the word ‘Moku’ which tends to mean ‘Tree’ but is also used in computer science meaning a data structure.”
“‘Accumulative Energy Generator’ is pretty much the definition of Technobabble. You could have an Accumulative energy COLLECTOR, which would collect the energy that has accumulated in X. OR you can have an (insert other word) generator, which generates that form of energy. The name COULD mean it generates progressively more energy, but then that would mean X would just explode. (Kinda like the Mavericks… Hmmm…) Instead that name seems to indicate it accumulates energy that it has generated… in other words, it generates energy that just sits there to be collected by the generator, which doesn’t sound like a very efficient energy system. At this point, why not just call it a Zero Point Energy Generator? At least base you technobabble on an actual theoretical concept. However, they can’t because…”
“Fuel Tank. X has a Fuel Tank. Which is no surprise as that’s what his life bar is. He drinks glow balls (NUCLEAR glow balls, X is definitely not green.) and recharges. But then, why have this nonsense generator bunk?”
“If, at this point you said ‘It’s just a SNES game!’ Get out. Just get out.”
“Now check out the arm diagnostics. This is just fine technobabble. An ‘Energy amplifier’ which would just be the charge shot, and the ‘variable weapon system’ which is boss goodies. See? Simple.”
“As an aside… The variable weapon system is Nanomachine based, right? That’s… really the only way he can convert energy into solid objects like cutters and torpedoes.“
“Also? Mega Buster Mark 17. SEVENTEEN! That’s WAY higher than any Buster the Previous Mega Man was shown to use.”
“I’d also like to point out that the original Mega Buster was supposed to be Solar Powered. Which MAY be what the whole Accumulative energy nonsense was all about.”
“Not much to say about the legs, other than it’s a nice little detail that the Dash is listed as optional.”
“Uh…Shouldn’t X have a ‘Lightweight Titanium X Alloy Skeleton’ and a ‘Reactive armor skin’, not the other way around?”
“By the by… X has ‘Lightweight Tutus’ in his head.”
“Woah, now hang on… so… the original Mega Man… didn’t? He was just a robot? He didn’t think, feel or make descisions? That uh… makes him extra creepy, especially in his Rock form. Just imagine a little robot kid staring at you with dead machine eyes…”
“Yup, I just ruined the original Mega Man for you. You’re welcome!”
“Oh look! Asimov rules!”
“This… opening note and the ending seem to indicate this game is WAY darker than it seems to be presented… THIS seemes to indicate X is like on the verge of snapping at every moment from his prototype brain, and thus is always depressed about having to shoot stuff. I mean, jesus Light, way to paint a bleak picture.”
“Hey look! 30 years. So we can assume that, based on the copyright date, that X was sealed around the 2090s at the latest. Though it COULD have been MUCH earlier as Mega Man clearly started in 2008. (200X in the first game, one year passes for the second game, then the third game takes place in 20XX, thus requiring an x to hide the tens digit.)”
“…Yeah, Mega Man is an anachronism! Feel old yet?”
“But as Light specifies ‘Do not disturb UNTIL that time’, the idea must be that Dr. Cain was heeding this warning to not awaken X, meaning only that amount of time had passed.”
“Now, I mention all of this for two reasons.”
“One: 30 years is NOT that long for people to forget all the advanced robots that Doctor light built back in 2008. Dr. Cain acts like Reploids are a huge leap, and not a natural evolution of those original forms, like he’s never seen a humanoid robot. Unless there was some major catastrophy that wiped out that information in the years between.”
“Two: …uh… Dr. Light is clearly a man in his fifties or sixties in 2008. So that means that he lived to the ripe old age of ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY! At LEAST…”
“Dr. Thomas Light. Depressed Old Bastard.”
There you have it! Stay tuned for more updates on the next Game Knight series that will take us on a little FANTASY... It'll be a long one!

Plus of course, the previously announced three further shows. It'll probably be a few weeks while I work on these, but we'll see!

Upcoming RKI Content

Editing will begin on the Final Episode of Mega Man X here soon. Then, as previously stated, I'm going to be filming quite a bit this month BESIDES the next installment of Game Knight. I plan to have a daily content release schedule over four shows in total at the moment. One video a day will be uploaded consisting of one of the four. Two of them will be easier to do batch episodes of, buying me time to work on the other two.

So... Would you like an official announcement? Of Course you would!

First up is Collecting Game!

This is the actual impetus behind coming to youtube. It annoys me to no end how deep one has to dig for info on collecting individual games. Many, MANY titles have unique eccentricities, such as multiple versions. So, the intent is to have a guide to EVERYTHING you need to know on a given title. It will enable you to tell at a glance what you need to know before picking up a particular title. This series is done in conjunction with Game Knight. (I need footage of the games, so why not make "Let's Play" videos at the same time?) Every other Game Knight series will feature an associated Collecting Game episode following. See if you can guess what the first episode will be.

Next up, RKI Radio Theatre!

A newer idea, based around the want of giving you guys daily content. I'm a big fan of old Radio Anthologies. And, given the Public Domain nature of these shows, I can bring them to you in full. With little production needed, I can make large batches to hold ready. I've got four series I'm going to begin with, bringing you one episode of each in rotation. More radio series will follow in the future. The secondary intent is to let you guys know that RKI is not going to be an exclusively Gaming oriented Channel.

Finally, Rantin' & Raven!

Is there anything simpler to shoot and edit than a vlog style video? Well, I don't know... but we'll see! If you're familiar with my Writing in Geek Blog, this is sort of like that. Highlighting something I enjoy or less so. It wont normally be gaming related, but more opinion pieces on other topics, but gaming issues may arise. I'm not going to be doing many of these for now but we'll see how it goes. Also, to keep things in balance, there will always be one of each. So if I'm rantin about something, expect some Raven to come in the following days. Or vice versa.

So, there you have it!

It'll take a couple weeks to get all this together, so be patient after Mega Man X concludes, as you see, there's a deluge coming. And this is only the beginning! There's some more stuff I'd like to do, but for now, these four shows will be the focus.

Keep on watching, liking, subscribing and sharing RKI content so things can grow even more!

Game Knight: Mega Man X - Episode 6 is Live! Plus a News Nugget

Let's chat Vile with the voices in our heads! ...Or Not...

Anyhoo! Only two episodes remain in the series! Then I'm gonna go on a filming bender. I have SO MUCH coming guys and gals, so much. But there may be a bit of a hiatus after the conclusion of Mega Man X as I get all my ducks in a row. (Like I've said, I'm new to this whole Youtube thing.) But when I return, I SHOULD be able to get you guys daily content. Featuring not only the second Game Knight series (Featuring a little title from the late 90s...) but THREE additional series to go along with it. One of them is going to be tied with the Game Knight releases and be more spread out, one episode per every other Game Knight series. But the other two will be their own thing. Both will have lesser production requirements, meaning I can shoot a bunch of them and edit them in a short period of time aka the Daily Release Holy Grail! I'll post more info as we get closer.

Until them, keep on watching!

Game Knight: Mega Man X - Episode 4! Plus some future release info!

Halfway there as Mega Man X continues on Game Knight!

Also in other RKI News, I'm currently working on another show idea that, given it has less editing involved, should allow me to assume a daily video release schedule for you guys. (And it's probably not what you expect as the RKI Channel was never intended to be Gaming only.) Sorta filling in the blanks as I edit the Game Knight Episodes and coming future content.

So be on the lookout for more info coming soon!

Mega Man X - Episode 2! Plus A Few Notes on the RKI Schedule.

Another Episode of Mega Man X is now live!

Now, If you're here on the blog, you're no doubt seeking out a bit more info. And Today I'm gonna basically spell out how frequently you can expect updates and new videos, plus give a little insight on the process that goes into these videos.

Video Schedule Part 1 - Gaming

I film the game play footage for the coming episodes. This one will vary considerably based upon the game. Mega Man X I managed to run through in about two hours. (This is of course not counting the previous SEVEN play throughs as I tried to figure out the process.) The next game on tap will... probably take a bit longer.

Video Schedule Part 2 - Script Writing

Fun fact, playing a game and commenting on it is... not easy. Instead, I decided to focus on what I was good at, writing. So, After the Game Play session is in the can, I go back and begin watching the footage and breaking it down into episodes and writing scripts. (From my EXCELLENT job at acting, I'm sure you could never tell it was so, but I assure you, all scripted in the commentary videos.) This one is a bit of a crap shoot depending on how favorable the muse it. I got about two or three episodes scripted a night.

Video Schedule Part 3 - Commentary

With the script ready, I begin filming the commentary segments. Depending on how many takes I need, (Read: A TON) I averaged four episodes a night.

Video Schedule Part 4 - Editing

This is the big one. The editing is easily the most time consuming process. As you may be able to tell, the time between Episode 1 being uploaded and Episode 2 being uploaded was Three days. That was all editing time. So, every episode should take about three days to edit. (Which should give you an idea of when to expect new episodes.)

Video Schedule Part 5 - Uploading

For the most part, I lose a day to just uploading as I cannot work on anything else while the file is rendering and uploading.

So, that should give you an idea of how episodes will be released in the future. I have a small single video to film and edit after the Mega Man X series completes, then I will set in on the next game. So hang in there dear fan as this is a ton of work for one person! Like, subscribe and help the channel grow and MAYBE I can speed up production on these. But, we'll see!

One more note before I wrap up this post. There will be two important changes after the Mega Man X series concludes. (Two problems I realized as I was editing) Firstly, the Gaming versus Snarking placement. I realize now that they should be both filmed from the same angle so they can be placed in the same area. So, beginning in the next game series, expect less of a jarring shift from left to right. Secondly, and the big one, sound quality. I screwed up on this one, plain and simple. I'm still learning this whole thing so, I got it REALLY wrong. Since filming, I have already figured out the way to remedy it, so after this series, the sound quality will be far better in the commentary. More uniform, and no more icky peaks and echoes. (It's... astoundingly stupid how easy a fix it is, but must be done at the time of filming.) So look forward to better voice quality and fewer ear bleeds!

With that said, stay tuned for more Game Knight and other RKI productions to come!
